Why Longwood MRI?

Excellence you can count on

We know that getting an MRI can be an intimidating experience. At Longwood MRI, we strive to make your stay as pleasant as possible. From the moment you enter our office to the time your scan is completed, we do our best to make you feel comfortable and relaxed.

Our center features the state-of-the-art Siemens Avanto system, an ultra-short, wide bore, 1.5 Tesla eight-channel magnet that offers the most comfortable MR experience and the highest quality images possible — extra fast scanning and specialized clinical capabilities in a virtually claustrophobia-free setting. The high-powered gradient package provides superb resolution and enables advanced imaging functions such as bolus-tracking MR angiography, complete stroke assessment, and full-body scanning.

Our in-house radiologist, Dr. Richard Schwartz, is a world-renowned physician with more than 30 years of experience. He will monitor the examination and interpret the imaging results to ensure that the scan meets the specific needs of the patient. He is always available to answer questions about the process, equipment, and results.

Most procedures take less than thirty minutes. The open nature of the scanner allows most of your body to remain outside the magnet during the scan, thereby reducing claustrophobia concerns. To help you further relax, you may listen to your choice of radio stations, or you may bring your own CD.

Images are immediately available and given to the patient on CD. Similarly the referring physician can view our images on CD or online here. Our in-house assessment team composes detailed diagnostic reports for every scan. The report is then automatically faxed to the referring physician, usually within 24 hours. Rapid turnaround of accurate reports provides our referring physician with the information they need to start their patient on the road to recovery.
